Marginality and Subversion in Korea: The Hong Kyngnae Rebellion of 1812 (Seattle: University of Washington Press, 2007), 이 책의 한국어판 『조선의 변방과 반란, 1812년 홍경래난』(푸른역사, 2020), Voice from the North: Resurrecting Regional Identity through the Life and Work of Yi Sihang (1672-1736) (Stanford: Stanford University Press, 2013)의 저자이다. 공저로 Wrongful Deaths: Selected Inquest Records from Nineteenth-Century Korea (Seattle: University of Washington, 2014) 가 있고, 하버드－옌칭도서관의 유일본인 『숙천제아도』와 『제주도여행일지』의 영인본 출판을 기획하고 편집하였는데, 이 책들에는 원문의 번역과 연구논문이 포함되어 있다.
